Bet Harim, House of the Mountains, is a Reform Jewish Congregation located in the Flathead Valley of Montana, from Polson to Kalispell and on to Whitefish. Our Vision is to create a Jewish spiritual, social and educational atmosphere that is relevant to the practice of Judaism in Montana.  We blend traditional Jewish practice with the personal experience of participation in services, a love of the outdoors, a strong commitment to community and an inclusive and welcoming manner that satisfies the needs of both Jewish anf interfaith familes. 

Bet Harim is a member community of MAJCO, the Montana Association of Jewish Communities, MHRN, the Montana Human Rights Network and is affiliated with URJ, the Union for Reform Judaism.  See http://www.urj.org for more information.

Ina Albert, author, workshop leader and health care communications professional, invites you to join her in a day of retreat and reflection, ritual and celebration - Connecting with The One . . .Healing for the Holidays. Connecting with The One begins by focusing on the fundamental prayer of Judaism that celebrates the world's first expression of monotheism and the Hebrew prayer at the time of Jesus. For people of all faiths - Saturday, September 27, 2008, 10 AM to 3 PM. Fee for the day is $25.00. Wear comfortable clothing, bring a towel, bathing suit and a pot luck contribution for lunch. Rabbi Secher will lead the Shabbat Service on Friday, October 3, 2008, 6:00 PM at the GUUF facility (see below for directions). Candle lighting followed by pot-luck dinner followed by services. Please bring a pot-luck entre - dessert will be provided.
Adult Torah Study Saturday, (11/08/2008) - 10:00am till noon at the GUUF. Rabbi Secher will lead the group study which (if previous sessions hold true) promises to be an educational venture with much spirited discussion. JOIN US - YOU WILL COME BACK FOR MORE.

Of Special Interest  
Bet Harim is about to take a giant step forward. We are excited to announce that the Connecticut-based Leo and Libby Nevas Family Foundation has awarded Bet Harim a three-year matching funds challenge grant to assist us in engaging professional part-time rabbinical leadership. We would like to thnak the Nevas Family Foundation and family members for this wonderful opportunity they have given us.
Many heartfelt thanks to Gina, Greg, Forest and Vale Nelson for their dedicated efforts and support in making this years Passover Seder a succesful event. Special thanks to Forrest for acquiring and preparing the fine Big Horn sheep, Rabbi Secher for his enthusiam in leading our Seder, to all who helped set up tables, chairs and food and to those that helped with the most-dreaded task of all - cleanup. Havurot  

A Havurah is a small group of BET HARIM members who get together occassionally to socialize, celebrate holidays, perform Shabbat services, book club and in general discuss Jewish topics and current events of interest to Montana Jews.  If you wish to sponsor a Havurah in your home or other venue please call the BET HARIM "hotline" at 406-756-5159 or write bet_harim@yahoo.com to make arrangements.
